Will you be sending your kid to school in September ?

I’m really on the fence on whether I should send my daughter. We live in Ontario. She’s going into SK.
Masks are mandatory for grades 4 and up. Students from kindergarten to grade 3 will be “encouraged” to wear masks. 
I just don’t see how their gonna keep kids socially distanced properly, and it just seems almost like a scary setting for them. I haven’t instilled any paranoia in her, she knows there’s a virus yes, but I feel like all these protocols will make her more scared.. but I know she reallllly wants to go. Ugh this is such a hard to decision.
We just got an email saying we will be sent a form August 5 incase you want to opt out of in person learning, deadline is August 14 or youre child is assumed as attending. 
 She also has to take the bus. Still waiting to hear details on that..
Also she’s 5, if she falls and hurts herself or is sad they won’t be able to really comfort her. I know other kids get really nervous, teachers won’t be able to hold their hand to walk with them etc. I just don’t think it’s going to go over well but she really wants to go back to school. 
Any parents that have kids who have already returned to school how is it?

We're doing remote learning. My daughter is going into 5th grade and it's the last year of elementary school here. She misses her friends dearly, but we don't know how covid will act during the winter months and I don't want to take any unnecessary risks since we have the means for her to do remote learning without it causing any issues in our schedules (I'm a SAHM and my husband has been working from home since the start of the pandemic)

I'm from Ontario as well. I dont have a say for my step kids so they are going but if it were my choice I wouldn't be sending them to school until a vaccine is available

My daughter begins school on August 10, and we don’t have a true choice. We can do virtual learning, but our school system is only giving parents two weeks to change their minds. Students who go to the actual school building can opt to become virtual learners at any point, but virtual learners only have the first two weeks to make the decision, and it stays that way the entire school year. My husband and I are both working from home, but don’t know when we will go back to the office (we work at the same place). So, we feel like we have to send her to school because we won’t be able to keep her home doing virtual learning and send her to the school building later in the year. We feel pushed into a corner.

I'm in BC and definitely not sending my daughter to kindergarten this year. I withdrew her registration last month. Our schools are over capacity and it just doesn't feel safe.

We were given the choice. I spoke to our pediatrician about it and she said she felt like if your child is healthy and everyone in your household does not have any major risk factors that she would recommend sending kids and that she was sending her own kids. I am also comfortable with the plan our school district has put into place. I think it really depends on each individual person, where they live and the needs of their child. There is no right or wrong answer to this and I feel like most parents are still second guessing whether the decision they are making is the right one for their child.

We are apparently staggering recess and lunches, drop off and pick ups.  You have to register for bussing. Certain classes can only use certain doors to enter and exit the school. I read something about designated washroom breaks too. But the schools don't even know yet, they don't how how many students will even be attending in which grades. All of this to me is still so up in the air. I had the explain to my 10 year old that we could end up in lock down mode again before then. It sucks bc she's so excited. 
I have one going into grade 11 too, so high school is a whole different thing too.

We’re sending her to school. The remote learning... it’s just not possible nor healthy for kids so young. I’m completely torn and go back and forth every day but I’m not sure she’s thriving at home. And for another year, year and a half? No way.

Our school district just let us know we are on 100% remote learning until further notice. I'm in Washington.

We are in Ontario too, my daughter is going into grade 1. She is going to be at in person classes. Online learning did not work for our family, as well as the fact that her father and I both have been called into work. We couldn't stay home with her. 
Is she excited? Yes. Am I nervous? Heck yes. It will be a rollercoaster.
