Convertible car seat.. what is the SAFEST?

What is a good convertible car seat that would fit in a Nissan Altima?
Also how long should a child stay rear facing? What is after they out grow the infant car seat? Is it okay for them not to be rear faced after they out grow that car seat? I want to keep my baby safe as possible and need advice. Please and thank you..

You should rear face as long as possible, absolute minimum 4+ years. The safest is to rear face till the child is old and large enough so the can front Face while using the set belts in the car with a high back booster seat. So never front face with a 5 point harness(look up internal decapitation if you wonder why!). In Norway it's reccomended to be at least 4 years old, minimum 15 kg and 110 cm before even thinking of forward facing. 
I have no idea what kind of seats you can buy where you live, but we started using an infant seat, then moved to the next seat - a rear facing only seat called axkid minikid. My oldest use a Britax Max way plus.

We have a Nissan Rogue and have the graco extend2fit seat. My LO is currently 19 months and still rear facing. His seat will work until he moves up to a booster.

I have a Nissan Sentra and we use graco extend to fit. I plan to keep my girl rear facing as long as possible all the way to the max weight and height limits for it before turning her around.  She’s been In it rear facing since 8 months old. She was just too heavy in her infant seat

I can’t really say how the seats are in an Altima. I have a ‘19 Kia Optima and I use the evenflo triumph lx. I love it. It’s very roomy and secure for my son. He’s front facing now but when I first got it he was rear facing (passenger side) and my husband and I could ride comfortably.

I just got the graco 4ever DLX. It’s amazing. LO turns 8mos tomorrow and we just transitioned her from her newborn seat.
