Baby on a boat?

My family rented a pontoon for us this weekend and my initial thought was to leave our 7 month old with the sitter. But everyone is insisting I bring the baby and is reiterating the number of people on the boat that can swim if there were some kind of emergency (I am not one of those people lol).
I already have my own anxiety about water but the thought of bringing our little one on the boat (for 3 hours), really freaks me out. I know if I don’t bring him I won’t hear the end of it. My husband supports whatever I choose but now I feel all this pressure.

I personally would not risk it. I can swim, but swimming and saving a life is different. You’d also need to get a coast guard approved life vest for the baby. And I assume you’ll be super anxious- I wouldn’t go. People will get over it. Your safety and babies safety is more important!

DO NOT FEEL PRESSURED!! Go with YOUR instinct. Plus I think a lot of places it’s mandatory for babies/toddlers to have a life vest. I personally wouldn’t do it if I were you. I’m in hawaii and was a competitive swimmer, I have no  doubt I could save my 7month old, but 3hrs on a boat is REALLY LONG. I wouldn’t chance it mama. Screw what everyone thinks. Plus you won’t even have a good time with anxiety. You’ll just be stressed the whole time when everyone else is having fun.

I would do what you feel comfortable with, and if that is leaving the baby with a sitter then so be it. That way you also get to have some mommy time, which is also important. If you do take the baby definitely get a coast guard approved life jacket and some way to shade the baby from the sun.

I think you need to do whatever you’re comfortable with. I personally would take my daughter. But I can also swim and don’t have a fear of the water myself. I also just enjoy taking my kids with me where and when I can (please don’t take that the wrong way I’m not saying that you don’t like to take your kids with you. I just mean I really enjoy it so I’d probably take them regardless). If you’d rather leave her with the sitter though, there is nothing wrong with that.

Me and my husband own a boat and take our 7 month old son with us every weekend for like 4 hrs. We have an infant life jacket for him that he wears all the time. He loves to put his feet in the water off the swim platform while we are anchored with me holding him. And he like the rocking motion and while we are moving as well, puts him right too sleep!

We own a boat and take our 4 year old and 7 month old out all the time! We have a coast guard approved infant life jacket that he wears, he actually loves the boat!

I just came back from a 9 day lake trip with my son and he was on the boat every day for at least 3 hours. I bought an infant sized life jacket that he wore the entire time, so felt very safe. The best part was that the motion of the boat put him to sleep so he was able to nap a lot while we were out on the water!
