Prescription prenatal vitamins....??

Question

My friend, who has a one-year-old, told me her OB recommended "prescription" prenatal vitamins to all her patients.

Which I found confusing.  
Vitamins you need a script to get....??

Has anyone else been prescribed prenatal vitamins?

And if so- what is the brand name of the vitamins you were prescribed ??

The only difference in prescription prenatal vitamins is the amount of folic acid. 1 mg in prescription and 400-800 mcg over the counter.

Honestly, I think it has more to do with money than which is better. Having had friends in the medical industry, they often get wined and dined by pharmaceutical company's in hopes that their products will be prescribed. Just ready the label. I get my vitamins from whole foods and trust them more than any I have been given by the doctor. :-)

My prenatals were prescription but they made me sick!! So, I got the over the counter ones!

I had prescription prenatal vitamins. My ob gave me samples to try & then determine which ones I wanted to take. Sad thing is the ones I really liked; they're $40.00 for a 30 day supply. I refuse to pay that. That adds up. I think im going to stick with Walgreens and find me some good ones there.

Mine is prescribed it's Prenatal Plus. Otc prenatal made me sick.
