12 weeks tomorrow can I relax yet?

Tomorrow I’m 12 weeks had my NIPT test and all is good. Just wondering if I can finally relax??? Got nuchal test next week anyone know the difference between that and the NIPT test?

Nuchal translucency is an ultrasound that looks for signs of chromosomal abnormalities, they are measuring the fluid behind the back of the neck and looking for the nasal bone. I personally won’t be doing it for this pregnancy. It made me miserable for my last. They said they didn’t see a nasal bone and the fluid reading was alarming and then they pushed for an amino and I refused, they did the materniT21 blood work and all was good but they sent me to a specialist and said my baby had short long bones and that’s a sign of downs but the specialist said I could just make small babies, my girl is fine. She’s almost 2 and completely perfect. I cried a lot and I was very worried about her health for a decent chunk of my pregnancy. NIPT which I never had done from what I know is more accurate because they’re actually looking at blood, not some fluid in the neck and presence of a nasal bone, some kids have smaller noses!

NIPT is more accurate. It is almost redundant to get both. They don’t even offer the NT to us here unless over 35 because there is more chance of error, like the other moms comment said. I fought my midwife to get the NT this round as I had it with my first baby. She sent me a ton of research why I didn’t need it and I feel better now not having it. You can relax!!

The 12 week ultrasound is for down syndrome, the blood test doesn't test for that. I'll feel safe after my ultrasound today at 12.5 weeks. Not so much because of down syndrome but because its another check on baby to make sure there's a heart beat and that baby is the right size. But yes the risk at 12 weeks is very low, but technically you aren't out of the first trimester for another week and a half.

So much misinformation on here. The NIPT is a blood screen for Down’s syndrome and two other chromosome abnormalities that are not compatible with life. It’s very accurate but not 100% as it’s a screening. The NT scan is another screening for abnormalities but looks at the physical attributes of the baby to check. My midwife recommends both. They are screenings and not diagnostic. In my last pregnancy my son passed the NT scan fine with no issues but they were picked up in the NIPT. I would speak to your Dr about your choices.
