Anyone getting a membrane sweep around 39 weeks?

I can’t decide if I want to have it done!  I am already 3 cm dilated and I know my doctor will ask if I want it at my next apt . Does it usually work and how soon?

They only work if your body and baby are ready 🤷🏼‍♀️ so if your body and baby aren’t ready, the most you’ll get it some cramps and a little discharge. There’s also risk of accidentally popping your water, and infection. That said, if your body and baby are ready to go, it supposedly will put you in labor within 48 hours. I’m holding off until 41 weeks as a last resort, and hoping I don’t make it that far 😅

Got mine done yesterday. 39 weeks today. I was only 1.5 cm dilated/50% effaced. Been having light pink mucus and cramping, but I don't think any of it is contractions. Just took a nice long walk, maybe still hope. Actual sweep wasn't great, but not as terrible as some of the stories I've heard on here. Last night was just terribly uncomfortable and I got little sleep.

I’ve been at 4 cm and 80% effaced and at a -1 for 2 weeks now so at my 39 week I’m doing the sweep. This is also my second and my first labor was only 5 hours so my doctors are worried about me not making it to the hospital. Really hoping it works!

I got mine done yesterday at 38weeks and 3 days and lost my mucus plug within 12 hours and have been having contractions almost none stop! It really just depends on what you want to do, but if baby isn’t ready you’ll probably just cramp and bleed a bit!
