So I moved into a new apartment with my son and literally the week I move in my neighbors are complaining about the noise by banging on walls, ceilings, ringing my doorbell at 5 am as payback etc. so being considerate of the fact that we are unfortunately in a top floor apartment and my 5 yr old likes to run around A LOT, I’ve been beyond considerate over the past few weeks to reduce the need for drama with neighbors. For example - I do not let my son into the downstairs living room until after 10am and he’s usually in bed by 7-8pm and upstairs before then to get ready. I do not even use my living room. I have a lovely couch that is so comfy and a big TV but God forbid I use these items at night. I could feel my neighbors stalkerish energy for a while. I’ve noticed odd things and felt I was paranoid. The apartment units are designed like townhomes which is part of the problem and paper thin as well. It felt like these neighbors were following us up and down the apartment as we moved about even on quiet days. However, last night I went downstairs to relax for the first time in ages - at 8:30pm. I watched part of a recording of a late night show and then started a movie. I distinctly heard someone exit the lower level floor and then heard snickering in the halls. I turned my tv off at 9:20. I could hear chatter downstairs and or in the hall. 10 minutes later my downstairs neighbors blast an annoying tune. I assume since I am usually in bed by 8 they were annoyed with my presence above their apartment. I ignored it and the music was audible in my apartment for about an hour.

This morning I emailed the property manager an eight paragraph email just to document the ongoing nonsense. Unfortunately I also let the behavior get to me and fixed my son the loudest 7:45am breakfast I probably could.

I am soooooo tired of humans at this point - myself included.

I’m in a major city and an expensive one at that so being a mom and especially a single mom is looked down upon - I have a degree, currently work from home and have my ish together but can not yet afford a single family home or a more family friendly neighborhood. I’m wondering is anyone else in an apartment unit with a child/children? How do you all deal with neighbors in an apartment building?? Thanks
