Bell’s palsy postpartum ?

Amanda

Yesterday I started noticing my eyes were really dry and my tongue felt weird. I thought maybe it was just due to wearing my mask everyday and being in the hospital everyday for 13 days straight (daughter in the NICU) and the air is dry. But then last night I went to drink from a straw and I couldn’t suck right. It felt off. I don’t see a facial droop but anything to do with my mouth feels weird now. My mom had Bell’s palsy when I was a kid so that’s the first thing I think of. And upon further research it’s actually really common in the third trimester and postpartum. So do I consult with my OB since I’m only 13 days postpartum or my primary care physician? First line treatment is prednisone and with my diabetes I can’t have that or my blood sugar will skyrocket and I don’t know if I could handle this for up to 6 months 😫
