Is there such a thing as registry Etiquette?

I’m almost done with my registry but I feel like I have too much ... about 100 items . I obviously will be happy if I recieve one or two gifts regardless I’m not expecting anything . I’m just wondering if there are rules to this shit or something lol. Like adding too many items , or too expensive ?

They tell you to add everything you intend to buy big and small, because usually you get better return policies and sometimes discount codes with a registry rather than just buying things randomly.

I think it is ok as long as you have a variety of prices. Some people can’t spend a lot so having lower prices items is important.

I'm making the baby registry under the assumption I'll buy most of it myself because if the covid situation, so I'm putting anything on there I think I might want just because at least I'll get the registry discount. I made sure to tell my family the discount part so they wouldn't feel like they had to buy everything on it.

I added a huge range of items from a couple dollars up to the carseat. I didnt have a ton of things on it. But - people asked me for a registry. I had one baby shower. I didn't put clothes on the registry because people buy those for you anyway.

I feel the same way.
I try to not put expensive things because I feel like a brat? If that makes sense.
I purchased the expensive things myself.. and got lots of handmedowns from friends.
I just kept it fairly simple on my registry.

We added everything from diaper cream to a rocking chair. Anything we wanted for the baby went on the registry. As soon as we got the completion discount we bought all the furniture ourselves(but my FIL surprised us with the crib, which was nice). I didn’t care what other people bought for us, but I wanted to make sure I got the discount on anything we needed.

Add anything and everything you will need. I added a lot of stuff that I intended to buy myself, but after your shower most registries will give you a “completion discount” so you can buy your big ticket items for like 10-15% off! If you feel like a brat you can add that stuff to the registry after your shower. I did that with a lot of forgotten stuff, like the owlet for example.

I have had 2 types of registries in my lifetime. Wedding and baby. Wedding I went all out and got all the useless stuff. Baby I was conservative and ended up getting clothing because there was nothing else. 
Go big for baby. You never know if it’s enough so when you think it’s too much, add more.

I feel the same way as I'm putting mine together. But then I've also thought the point of a registry is to give people ideas about what your preferences. For me. I will be super happy and grateful to receive something that's not even on my registry. But in my experience buying for other people it's so much easier to know what someone wants rather than just picking out based on my own preference. So I say, go for it... pick out what you like and ultimately of you don't get something that's okay for others to choos not to spend whatever amount of money.. given that you're asking this question I doubt you'd be upset for not getting something and you'd be appreciative of what you do get.

I have over 200 items. Some are private so I’m the only one who can see them. 
I have items that are almost all under $50. With the exception of a high chair, dock a tot, a pack n play, and a tummy time mat with toys attached. This gives people flexibility to pick what they want & spend what they want. I plan on using the discount in the end to pay for the rest of the stuff I can’t/won’t live without. I did add diapers and wipes to mine because we’re doing to do a virtual shower and I figured having them on there could make it easier to just add them to their order for a diaper raffle rather than going to search for diapers. Having a variety of items and a variety of price ranges is good and can make it easier on guests. Rule of thumb is usually 2 items per guest invited but I added what I wanted and no one has to buy what they don’t want! Plus it’s my first so we’re starting from scratch. I also added decor items I plan on buying (hampers, wall decor, pillow for the rocker, etc) so those will be put on private but still there so I can get the discount in the end 😊
