We adopted a dog we were told was 8 two years ago, but the vet thought he was closer to 10. So that would now make him about 12 years old. We are finding he is getting INCREASINGLY scared and anxious as time goes on.

He's always had separation anxiety and is scared of bad weather (understandable) but now my husband can't even take his shoes off next to him without him going into a panic. Our birds can't even walk around the floor without him thinking they're coming for him (he got bit by one over a year ago). I can't even sweep near him without him running for his life. I dropped a pot in the kitchen when he wasn't even in there and he refused to come in to be fed for over a week.

We don't understand where this comes from (I'm with him 99% of the time) and the only thing we can think of is that it's age related?
