First with last name problem?

Question

I want to name my baby Deacon. I have had this name picked out since before I was pregnant. My (almost) husbands last name is Gooch. He thinks it’ll sound bad out together that kids in school may make jokes. I understand but kids will probably make fun of his last name regardless so how much worse is it put together?
Honest opinion. My friends probably don’t want to tell me not to use the name I picked.

The last name in general is going to be a hard one to deal with.
I think you can go with whatever first name you like.
The nicknames will come regardless because of the last name.

Its unfortunate last name. I have a similar problem with names to go with Cheney (pronounced cheeney) without it sounding Italian. I definitely like the name deacon though!

I would name him deacon as it what you want. If your husband can suggest a name that will go better with the surname (I don’t think much would go with that name).  Tbh it’s the surname that’s going to be picked on not the first name, I think it’s really unique but not weird (I’m a teacher so I’ve heard em all 😂).
