In my experience, yes. 
I've had valuable relationships with FWBs, and I accept these as inherently emotional relationships, just, loving people or caring about them doesn't mean commitment for me, necessarily. 
I've enjoyed being able to be free, and have someone or multiple people I care about. 
Of course, there are responsible and ethical ways to do this, and unfortunately there is always a risk of feelings getting hurt. But relationships always have that! Being hurt is a fact of life imo.

No. Sex is a gateway to your emotions, physical reproductive health, stds, and pregnancy. I think it should be given the upmost respect because of the grave consequences that come with it if something goes wrong. Im pretty sure most people who got an std/pregnant/abortion would say the sex wasnt worth it.

I feel like you should do what makes you happy as long as it doesn't hurt someone. Some people aren't into whole relationships, and that's ok. As long as it's made clear on both sides what the expectations are, it should be fine. Just because it doesn't fit into someone else's lifestyle, doesn't mean it can't fit into yours. Ultimately, it boils down to "are you ok with it?", and no one can answer that but you. Good luck!
