My baby has a tongue and lip tie and he had an appointment to get it lasered when he was just a few weeks old. But I was so scared and they told me they couldn’t numb him and after the surgery I had to do these exercises with him (sweep the lip and tongue 5 times a day so it didn’t get reattached). And they completely scared me away from the idea when they said “most parents say its easier to start with the lip and then once they start screaming and crying it’s easier to get under the tongue”. I just couldn’t do it to me baby 😭

So anyways he’s now 6 months old and I want to get it done before he’s older because I’m scared it will affect his speech. So has any mommas had to do this and was it really that bad? Does anyone baby have a lip or tongue tie and you’re just waiting it out to see if it affects anything?

So far it did complicate breast feeding and he couldn’t latch well but ate perfectly fine from a bottle and is in the 90th percentile for weight. He eats baby food and some solid food great. He’s already saying mama and dada. I’m just scared it’s going to set him back and make him cranky. He’s such a good baby and just the thought of hurting him upsets me, especially for something that “might” affect his speech. Please someone give me some input.
