Tips for putting a tampon in for the first time?

Was painful when I tried- couldn’t get it even halfway in -am I doing something wrong ?? Plz help !!

you may be using a size thats too large for you at the moment. i just push it up there until all that’s hanging out is the string. it’ll get easier with practice, and remember not to leave one in for more than 8 hours.

I use Aquafor as lube for the tampon to make it easier to put inside. My gynecologist recommended me to sit on the toilet and insert it and aim it towards my spine. It is less painful to put in! hope that helps 😊

Make sure to be careful. It may hurt or feel weird if you are pushing into your vaginal walls. It doesn’t matter if you have to pull it out and try again, just make sure it goes all in. It’s can’t ever get stuck and if the string pulls out, just go fishing. It can’t go anywhere. If you can’t put it in properly and you are having difficulty, try using an applicator (I think that’s what it is called. It’s an insert thingy)

My first time was painful, too, partly because I didn’t understand the angle of my vaginal canal. It’s not “straight up” when you’re standing up, but angled toward the base of your spine. “Easy glide” tampons help, too, but finding the right angle and being patient with your body will make it much more comfortable. It should not be painful and if it is, stop, relax, and try a different angle.
Some people don’t like tampons at all and there are plenty of options to try, so don’t despair!

i love tampons and this is coming from me who can barely take a shot without passing out. i watched a few videos and i got advice from friends. as long as u tilt the tampon on a 45° angle downwards it will go in so easy and like nothing. i will be honest u can feel the tampon the first time but barely. i hated the idea of tampons until i tried them now i cant believe i ever was afraid of them. BUT make sure U are comfortable with using them! DO NOT do it bc they’re “cooler” or “more popular” u got this!
