Is it normal to feel ovulation

Is it normal to feel yourself ovulating? I don’t know if that’s what it really is but like around the time of my fertile window I will get really bad cramping on either side depending on the month right where my ovaries are hurts so bad and it lasts like only half hour to an hour not sure if that’s an egg being released or what
