To take a polygraph test or to not? TW

My narcissistic MIL and SIL have slandered my reputation within my husband's entire side of the family by saying they believe I molested my niece. These accusations are 1000% false and malicious to try and get me shunned and ostracized permanently. I've been thinking about ways I can prove that I would never and the accusations are ridiculous. The only way I think i would get any sort of vindication is by taking a legit polygraph test (yes I realize they're not always accurate) but it's the only thing I can think to do to clear my name. What do you guys think?

If they're the type of people who will falsely accuse others of molesting a child, then I doubt a polygraph will help.
They'll just say they doubt the test result or find another shit story to make you look bad.

Polygraph text aren’t an accurate thing! That’s why they don’t use them in court anymore. Someone can be completely calm and still pass it with flying colors, and be the one who done something bad, and then someone who is nervous just from a test and has done nothing they can fail it from being to nervous. It goes off of heart rate. So just depends on the person. 
People are always gonna talk no matter what!!! If you know exactly what has happen then that’s all that matters!

Isn’t there something you can do regarding defamation of character? If you didn’t do anything wrong, I’d be seeking legal advice about these accusations.

I was  accused of horrible things by a child that was once in my care and gladly paid for my own polygraph just for my own peace of mind.  I carry it around with me at all times now.  Just to be accused carries an inference of guilt in most cases and it feels absolutely disgusting.  The child in question admitted to lying while being interviewed by the police but, child services still believed him.  If it would make you feel better I highly recommend it but, it’s a very difficult procedure.

That is a huge thing to accuse someone of. Why on earth would they think you did that? I would be trying to prove my innocence at all costs personally.

I can’t imagine anything would help clear your name with them. They have decided what is fact and are staying there. I would just avoid dealing with them.

I've had my fair share of experiences with narcissists as well. They are evil and dangerous to a fault. I'm assuming that there is no truth to their claims, and my answer to you is based within that assumption.
If you take a polygraph and pass, they will only dispute that. It will go on and on and on. People like this cant be reasoned with and you cannot be exonerated by anything in their eyes. Not only are people like this draining and soul soucking but they can be downright dangerous. Accusing you of the sexual molestation of a young child is a huge thing that could land you in a court of law defending your name and possibly in prison.
My best suggestion is to cut ties with these people. Talk to your husband and draw a line in the sand. I very rarely advise people to force a choice like this, but due to the dire nature of the situation, it applies. You CANNOT have anything more to do with them. No verbal contact and no physical. Unfortunately, he will need to do the same in order to provide the united front you need.

Don’t buy into it, don’t engage in this conversation at all. Taking a polygraph only plays into their games. Your partner should unequivocally back you in this. Cut ties and move on.
