Birth control before IVF?

Hi ladies! Has anyone been put on birth control before starting IVF? Why does this seem shady to me?

Okay. Thanks ladies! For some reason my initial instincts didn't love the idea. Maybe I'm crazy (well, I guess I am a little crazy for sure 😉) but my thought was that they put you on birth control so you can't conceive naturally from the meds they put you on. My guess is the chances are higher? My husband and I have unexplained infertility and my cycle is already extremely accurate/on time. The specialist said that not everyone has to go on birth control, so I don't get why I have to when my cycle is already regular. That's why it didn't feel right. 
But- sometimes I just have to let it go and trust in the process!

Yes I am 2 weeks into it. It is so that he can control the start date of my cycle in order to develop a schedule for everyone.

Totally normal for beginning of med protocol.

Yes.  It’s to keep your uterus calm and dormant until they are ready to start your medications.  It’s standard at every fertility clinic.
