So I actually met my SO through his sister. I worked with her.

She sat us up on a date. She wanted us to get to know eachother, and then when things got serious she started to fucking hate me and I didn’t understand why. Completely stopped acknowledging my existence.

Their dad told me it was because she felt like I was stealing her brother away from her. There was one family get together where she was so rude to me that I just stood up at the dinner table, and said “I’m going home.” And my SO went with me. The whole family agreed that she was way out of line and being extremely rude for no reason. That night I guess after we left her dad talked to her and was like “that’s the girl he picked. He wants to spend the rest of his life with her and loves her and if you can’t accept her, you’re gonna end up losing your brother. You need to get over your shit.”

So she did. Next time I saw her she was completely different, and now talks to me like nothing ever happened between us. And I would like to be close to her, I just don’t even know how to go about it at all. I’m not a super social person and got anxiety so any advice would help. The negative past we have still has me feeling weird and awkward about it.

Funny thing: the reason I know her dad talked to her is because her dad told me. Their dad really likes me. I had mentioned how she went from liking me, to hating my guts and then hugging me when she saw me like something just changed out of nowhere. It was because he talked to her.

Hey y’all she’s not treating me like shit. She hasn’t in over a year now, everytime she sees me she hugs me and greets me kindly. Last time I saw her, we went to her house and she cooked dinner for us. She’s going to be his sister forever and I want to spend my life with him. She is treating me very well now. Im giving her room to grow. I’m very family oriented and I would like to have a healthy family relationship all around on both sides I am not going to hold a grudge against her. She will be my children’s aunt.

I just think it’s unfair to her if I just hold this against her forever when she’s putting effort into having a relationship with me, inviting us over for dinner. She’s my SOs sister who he loves. I don’t want to be the reason they don’t have a relationship because I cant get over something.
