If you need additional support, you could ask to speak with a social worker at the hospital you delivered at or get connected through your pediatrician to one. They can help you determine if you are eligible for any public benefits in your state/city (SNAP/food stamps; cash assistance; housing/rental assistance; possibly social security if you or your child have any sort of disability; etc). You should definitely ask about WIC which helps with specific food and baby items. Each locality has different programs with different requirements. A social worker will be the best place to start. It might require a bit of annoying paperwork and showing up to a number of interview appointments, but if you need help, don’t hesitate to ask and don’t let the other commenters here make you feel guilty about doing so. Best of luck!!
