40+1... membrane sweep?

Hi! FTM I am 40 +1 weeks pregnant today, I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor, during my last appointment, my doctor suggested getting a stripping (or membrane sweep) tomorrow if I hadn't given birth by then. I've been having BH contractions for the last week and I feel baby is low but he is still waiting... if you've had that procedure done, can you please tell me about your experience? Pros and cons? Thank you 💗💗

I had it done at 38 weeks. I was 2 cm dilated. It was pretty uncomfortable getting it done. Took a minute or two. Only slightly more uncomfortable compared to getting the cervix checked. 
I went into labor 3 hours later so it worked for me. I don’t see any cons from my personal experience. I was afraid of it starting labor / false labor and then stalling. Luckily my labor progressed and I had my son the next day. The biggest pro is that it can get labor started without any medications, you go home, and it’s really quick.

I had it done with my 1st at 40w. At 40+2 she was born. With this one I had one done at 38w and lost all my mucus plug. The. Had a second one today at 39w. Have now having contractions. It’s just a little uncomfortable but nothing terrible

Had one done at 38w5 with my first, i had no pain associated with it and went into labour approximately 36 hours later. 
I haven’t had one yet this pregnancy but will likely ask for one if the cervix is favourable at my 38w6 day appointment.

I just got my second sweep done today at 38+4 weeks. I didn't dilate any more between the two sweeps, but after some reading and asking questions it sounds to me like a good option to avoid going overdue. That being said, it's not very comfortable. My cervix is posterior so it's even more uncomfortable. I've been able to practice my breathing for labour though 🤷
