39 week elective induction?

Question

My doctor told me today that I could choose to be induced as early as 39 weeks if I want. My baby is currently measuring around 7.5-8 lbs at 36 and a half weeks. Any thoughts on elective induction, or maybe some articles about it?
My doctor said he’s pretty neutral as far as whichever I would choose.

I was scheduled for an elective induction on the 27th,  but my baby came this morning at 8.13 lbs. and I am 37+6 today. If I waited longer my baby was going to be huge! Trust your instincts.
My 1st I did an elective induction at 39 and he weighed the exact same 8.13 lbs when he was born.

I’m having an elective induction at 39 weeks as well! Mine more so for the reason of not having family to watch our 2 year old and to have a plan in place for someone to watch her. But my doctor was totally open to it as soon as I was explaining the situation. He mentioned at 39 weeks babies are truly just growing in size and everything is developed, so everyone would be safe and healthy.

I was told the same, but I'm 37 weeks and babys only measuring about 6.5 lbs and I'm already dilating and effacing. I personally don't want an induction, but we have had multiple personal friends have complications from going overdue so I asked for an induction date on the due date. I also really don't want the pitocin and all that usually used for induction, just from bad experience with my first. My suggestion is do your research and make a decision from there. My personal preferences may be vastly different from yours

With my first my dr pushed my induction to 42 weeks because baby was small. This baby is measuring a week ahead so she said we can talk about being induced at 39 weeks and I’m probably going to do it. 
My first ended up breaking my water at 41+5 but still had to use picotin to help me progress. Hoping this baby will tolerate it better than my daughter did.

I’m being induced at 39 weeks, baby is measuring big and I have thyroid issues. Doctor said there’s been studies that show an induction at 39 weeks is shown to reduce the need for csections in FTM.

I was induced with my first and if I had the choice this go around I’d definitely choose not go on my own. I was over due with my first baby so I had to be induced but I personally wouldn’t choose it before 40 weeks unless medically necessary. But I also don’t trust those weight estimates there’s really no way to tell how much baby weighs until they’re born.
