How important do you think a bottle sterilizer is?

I have been debating between buying the Dr Browns bottle sterilizer where you can sterilize up to 6 bottles in 12 min plus you can also add pump parts and pacifiers, nipples, etc.
My mom thinks I can just use boiling water... Was wondering what you thought.

It's easy to sterilize everything in boiling water before using it. Honestly I never sterilized things between used--just washed with hot soapy water or in the dishwasher.

If you don't have a dishwasher they are great. It's important to use sterile bottles with a little baby, but if you do have a dishwasher just use that.

If you do yse boiling water, make sure to use a lid. If you don't, the bottles won't be sterilized. I just learned this at an infant care class. I never thought about it before I guess.

If boiling water is too much of a hassle, which for me it would be. You can get the medela sterilizing bags you can get a pack of 5 from target for about 6 or 7 dollars and I believe you can get about 20 uses out of each bag. I'm getting the bags mostly for nipples, pacifiers, and the breast pump equipment, and other hard to clean items.

I got the tommee tippee one and I have tommee tippee bottles as well. But I'm planning on breastfeeding hopefully it works out well.

Dish washer, boiling water, or if you get a medela breast pump it comes with a bag to sterilize in the microwave. You don't need to sterilize every use just the first or if it gets really dirty. I think we did it once a month in the beginning so a total of 4x and the bag can be used about 25+ times.

If your dishwasher is broken then I think a sterilizer is a fine option.  I always just washed I hot soapy water and sometimes would soak in a sink full of super hot vinager water to remove any residue.  I rarely sterilized everything.

I've done both and the sterilizer is definitely easier.  But if I have a lot to sterilize, meaning too much to fit in the sterilizer, I went the pot of boiling water method.

Is it necessary? No. Is it easier? Yes.  Most things are about making life more convenient.  If you can afford it, go for the sterilizer.

I plan on just washing my bottles in the dishwasher. The heat from drying should be fine.
