Am I wrong??

I went out to a party with my bf of 10months and saw a male friend of about 15 years; I asked for his number in front of my bf as I have nothing to hide. When we left he ended it with me for doing so. The friend and I have literally just been friends never anything more. I rarely talk to him and just wanted his number as he promotes events ( I like to party). I completely understand my now ex felt disrespected but I still disagree as I know my intentions were genuine.
