The past year has been different from all the years before, we've spend nights and mornings together. We have gone for runs together and we both always want to go on hikes together. Unfortunately he is quite busy with being in his third year of university for business and he also is in the Canadian army. 

He doesn't go out to clubs and stays home studying a lot. Obviously our relationship has had its rocky moments but we have never been in big fights that we couldn't work through. 

Recently I had gotten the courage to tell him how I feel about him, on one of our wine nights. I asked if I was more than just a random hook up to him, he responded saying I meant more to him than I thought because it's been 4 years. Also he did take me to an army gala recently as well and in my mind he could have taking any other girl but he wanted to take me to it and the gala was expensive, we sent for free because he had free tickets but most of the people there spent $1,000 for just a seat at a table. We even say next to our cities ex mayor and the ex mayor bought me wine and was super nice haha.

Little detail he is 21 and I'm 19.

And he's most definitely more experienced in his sexual life, but I can expect that because he is in his 20's.

He has told me that I'm old fashioned and that he likes that. Also he said I remind him of his mom, we both are quite shy at times. 

I met his father a few years ago (his parents moved out of the country a while back and he lives with his older brother,) he dad was interesting. He was a lot sweeter than I first thought he would be, because they're a Russian family. His dad looked like a typical Russian man, seemed scary but was completely welcoming. 

Back to recently, he came over and we talked for about a good 3 hours. He payed his head on my lap as I sat on my bed and he played with my hair the whole night and I talked to him. We told each other that we were bad at communicating our feelings, he because I don't think he was ever raised to talk about his feelings and my because I haven't had the best experience with people in my life, my father is an alcoholic and I help my mom out with my little siblings. 

Anyways we came on the topic on how I wanted to learn another language. He speaks four different languages so in the past he would teach me one word that sounded so pretty but turned out to be a swear of some sort. So he was teaching me this phrase in Arabic and we repeated it for a good 5 minutes and then I asked he what it meant. He responded saying it meant, I love you.

I kept on repeating it and he further pointed out the word, you. 

Meaning me? He loves me? 

I just got all happy and he then proceeded to kiss me gently. 

So my question is could he have randomly picked that phrase without meaning it? Because I felt like he meant it. But I of course don't want to get my hopes up.
