What happens at your first OB appt?
Should my husband come? 
I'll be 8w 5days the day of my visit

My first appointment was different with both of my children because I used different practices. At the one we did an ultrasound, but at the one I am currently seeing they did not. Most use the first appointment to discuss how your appointments will go for the majority of your pregnancy. They will also do a Pap smear.

Thankfully my husband was allowed to come to all my appointments, definitely call and ask! They usually do a scan to get an accurate due date, bloodwork, pap if you are due.

They usually do an ultrasound that takes about 20 mins then you’ll see your Dr afterwards. They’ll take measurements and confirm your due date. They’ll also measure the heartbeat. You may not be able to hear the heart beat but they should tell you beats per minute. The Dr will do a Pap smear if you’re due for one & just tell you what to expect in the upcoming weeks 😁 My husband usually goes to the first one & the 20 week anatomy scan.

Most places are not allowing husbands to come in so check with your clinics. They will generally run blood work and a pee pregnancy test.

Check with the office. A lot of women are being made to go alone. Likely you’ll get an ultrasound and then meet with the doctor.
