Daycare not working?

My daughter, who is almost 3, is doing a trial run of a new daycare. She had her first day Monday, and I wasn’t too impressed because when we arrived, the workers had no idea who we were (I had been speaking to the director who wasn’t there) or what days/hours she would be coming and no cubby for her. They just seemed unprepared and unorganized. My daughter is already saying she doesn’t want to go back. She had been in a daycare before and LOVED it but unfortunately closed because of COVID. 
How do you know if a daycare isn’t right for your kid? Or am I just being too picky?

If there is lack of communication about something so small, run. As a daycare employee I can say those places that have complete lack of communication are the worst.

I work in a child care centre. Our program and teachers are excellent. We exceed standards and often have full day kindergarten teachers tour our schools because our programming is play based and child led. That said the office staff are terrible! I have had kids show up for a first day of school and had no idea they were coming and then I have to play it cool and try not to look stupid. It’s seriously frustrating. Looks bad to parents and doesn’t help kids transition. I guess just weigh the pros and cons if enrolment is the only issue and everything else is great then stay but you have bad vibes or no communication then definitely go elsewhere.

Maybe give it a bit of time, but them being unaware would be very off-putting to me as a first impression. The director may not be very good at communicating.

If you didn’t meet the teachers then they aren’t going to know who you are. Also most don’t do cubby’s it’s anything if it’s just a trial run.

That wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. I’d give it a couple weeks.
