Getting back with ex?

Hi ladies. Me and this guy dated about two years ago, and ended things because he decided to date someone else. We weren’t an official couple, and he told me about his decision. but we never lost touched on social media but didn’t talk much. A few months ago, he and i has a talk about what went down a few years ago and we forgave each other. We were high school and figuring things out. Anyway, he texted me out of the blue and responded to a Snapchat story of mine which he hasn’t done in a long time. We’ve been taking over the course of a few days and I can’t tell if he’s trying to keep it going. He’ll ask questions, and in the beginning it was a rush sorta, but now things are kinda dry. I think its because we don’t know what the other person wants and we’re testing the waters. We finally stopped talking about music and such, and are semi getting personal and asking what we’re doing. But how can I tell what he wants and the reason for him texting me and if he wants to it keep going?
