How do you wean from the pump?

My babes 1st birthday is in 2 weeks, and I’m still at 7ppd. I pump every 3.5 hours. My last pump of the day is 9:30, and then I don’t pump again until 6:30. But I wake up engorged every day and have to pump for AN HOUR. My pumps during the day are 40 minutes! I’m ready to cut pumps, but google just left me confused!! Looking for advice from someone who’s actually been through it. Thanks, ladies!

I'm not sure if this will work for you as you've said you get quite engorged but for me it helped me drop a pump slowly. I went from eight pumps per day to now only four pumps per day. What helped me reduce a pump was to pump for less for the session I wanted to drop.
For example:
Day 1-2: 25-20 minutes
Day 3-4: 20-15 minutes
Day 5-7: 15-10 minutes
Where I was pumping 30 minutes per sessions, I reduced this by 5-10 minutes each time for 2-3 days for a week.
Pump schedule from four weeks postpartum to establish milk for three months:
6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, 12am, 3am
From three months to six months:
9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, 3am
From six months to eight months:
9am, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, 3am
At eight months (currently):
9am, 3pm, 9pm, 3am
Once baby sleeps through the night, I'll be dropping the 3am pump and once he's eating more solids I'll be dropping the 3pm pump also. I might build a small milk stash in the freezer before I wean off it completely.

Not true, I exclusively pumped for 9 months and I stopped because I was done.lol

I weaned by dropping a few minutes each day from one of my sessions until it was gone. I was pumping 50 minutes 3 times per day, each day I cut my midday session by a few minutes until I got it down to 20, then dropped it all together because I was out and decided not to rush home to pump, that ended up being a mistake and I woke up the next day with mastitis. But after that I continued just the two pumps per day and dropped 3 minutes from the morning and 2 minutes from the evening. When I was doing this I also drank no more milk tea one or two times per day, took Sudafed once or twice during the day and benedryl at night. I tried the cabbage leaves in the bra but for me it just dried out my skin on my breast and made me itchy. After the mastitis cleared and I finished the antibiotics it took about 2 weeks to completely wean and dry up.

Start cutting out the pump that you get the least amount. Look up foods that start to decrease your supply. Every few days cut out another pumping session.once I cut out my last session I was a little uncomfortable for a few days. Wear a tight sports bra for support.
