Box hair dye. How does it affect your hair?

My hair stylist is a family friend and she is in the process of getting her cosmetology license renewed so she can’t buy any hair dye products st the moment.  I was wanting to dye my hair this dark brown burgundy color... what are your thoughts? Will it work for already brown hair?

Or just go to Sally’s and buy hair color from there. You don’t need a license to shop there.

I have box dyed my hair for years and I actually use L’Oréal Féria. I don’t overdo it and I dye the same reddish/brown color every time and I get compliments on the color/health all the time, including from hair stylists. Everyone’s hair chemistry is different though. I wouldn’t use a lightening color but I have personally had success with this brand so i figured i figured I would share.  (Adding a pic form my wedding to give you an idea)

So I've dyed my hair from the box several times lighter and darker and have had my hair professionally done and the box never turns out as good. I feel like it always looks more uneven regardless of what brand is used. I haven't dyed my hair for a long time now but I wouldn't ever go back to box dyes again.

As a professional hairstylist don't do it . Have a professional do your hair . When it comes time for you to get your hair done by a stylist it's going to cost alot more and  cause more damage to your hair if you use any box color .
