Is it too soon ?

So I just purchased our first big item for the baby. A crib!  I couldn't resist because I save $75 on it. It was calling me. Lol. But is it too soon to make purchases for the baby?

Two weeks ago we bought a dresser/crib/end table/various other things for the nursery (IKEA trip!) and my parents bought us the travel system (20% off coupon). If we have a shower, I wouldn't expect anyone to buy any of these items anyway.

I don't think it's too soon. Sometimes people want to be prepared. I'm not sure of your situation, but with our firstborn, my husband and I were in a much different financial situation. At 13 weeks I put a down payment on a stroller travel system and paid towards it for every pay for 6 weeks until it was done. Next was our crib and dresser set. But both of my parents are deceased and my husband's family were convinced we weren't going to last (his dad even shouting "don't worry son, I'll pay for your divorce!" during our cake cutting at our wedding) so we had zero support from them. Then we ended up getting nothing from our registry and only clothes at our baby shower, so we struggled even more. But in the end, I was thankful I started so early. This time around, we have everything we need, so at 19 weeks our nursery is 100% done and just waiting for baby!

I'm 19 weeks and I already have a ton of stuff for my baby. I can't stand the thought of buying things for full price when I know other people sell their barely used non recalled items for half price or less. My biggest score was an Eddie Bauer carseat and stroller travel system for $50 originally  $230!  It was brand new and still wrapped in its plastic. When you find good deals, you just have to take advantage of them.

I always believed in waiting to buy stuff until after 13 weeks or the baby shower!! My husbands friend and his gf are having a baby and she's about 9 weeks and they already have a baby on board sticker on their car and bought a car seat! After having a kid I've learned to wait to buy til after the baby shower because you get so much! Of course if you can't pass up on a deal then go ahead!! A crib makes sense because not many people buy cribs for a gift unless it's a grandparent helping out!

I was driven by the sale as well!! Saved $120 on a crib, how could I say no!?!? I'm 18 weeks, last pregnancy I didn't buy a thing until like 30 weeks. That was before Etsy was invented :)
