Does this make me a bad parent already?

I'm a first time mom, currently 21 weeks pregnant and I am due to give birth March 30th which I feel will turn into April. I have not purchased anything for the baby. My husband and I actually just found out the sex almost two weeks ago and will have a gender reveal gathering on Thanksgiving. Since finding out the sex, I've been wanting to buy things but people tell me to wait until after the Baby Shower!

Is waiting until after the baby shower a good idea?

The only thing I bought before my shower was outfits, toys, and little things like that, that I wanted my baby to have. If you wait after the shower you know what you still need and will probably get gift cards and cash to get the stuff.

My husband has purchased a few things online, but I have yet to buy anything myself. I think realistically I won't purchase much until after the shower. And my sister and friends have many things for me already ( hand me downs). Save the money until u figure out what u want/need to buy. Does not make u a bad parent in my opinion!

Why would that make you a bad parent? You're the Mommy, even if you're a first time mom, it's your baby... Do what you feel is right! 
Most of the time at baby showers you don't get the larger items like crib, dresser, car seat, stroller, baby monitors, etc...... Unless your family goes in on it together.... Baby showers gifts are normally cute stuff like clothes, bottles, bath stuff (lotions, body wash, tub, towels/wash cloths)... People don't generally spend over $25-$30 on a baby shower gift, unless it's family.  
You'll be an Amazing Mother, don't let anyone take away from what you want to do for your baby...

I'm in the same boat, my baby is due the 4th of march and my parents keep telling me don't buy anything. My shower isn't til January. I jist keep buying wipes. I wanna buy diapers but people have told me you can't return them after 30 days

I am due March 12 and barely bought anything eventho we wont have any baby shower (it's bot common to have one in Indonesia). I think I'll just post a wishlist but will start to do some serious shopping on December (for the basic like newborn clothers, baby bathing stuffs & clothing diapers). While for the big stuffs like baby crib, I think I'll just wait even more later until January. Basically newborn baby doesn't need much (I read it somewhere, I'm an FTM by the way). It says that they'll only need clothes, milk and sleep.

I got two things a set of gender neutral burp cloths and some white onsies. That was like at 10 weeks when the baby was making me feel bad and I thought one set of cute baby things would remind me that it was all worth it to have our little one in our hands. I am now going to wait to get anything after the baby shower. It allows you to see what you're missing.

Im waiting till after my shower to buy stuff. Im 24 weeks now and I have already had some friends give me things like a swing and bouncer. One friend gave us used baby stuff because the person that they wanted to give it to had already bought it. We did buy a stroller because it was a really good deal. Also most stores will give you coupons to finish your registry so we have another incentive to wait. Its hard though when we see so many cute baby clothes!

Your baby doesn't need stuff. They need food, to be kept warm, and a flat place to sleep where they won't get stepped on or suffocate. And some diapers. That's it. My parents always look at the baby aisle funny because they never bought anything in the baby aisle when they had me and my brother.

People told us to wait but we don't care! We have bought clothes, sandles, shoes, blankets and books. We have been buying different sizes so after the baby shower we don't end up with too much of one size.

Does this make me a bad parent already?
