Any fed employees waiting anxiously for maternity leave to kick in?

I am a federal employee, and based on a new law we finally get paid maternity leave, but only if baby is born after October 1, 2020.  I am so happy and grateful that I will have 12 weeks paid this time! Last baby I had to use sick leave, vacation leave, and a bunch of unpaid leave.  But I am so scared that baby will show up at the end of September and I will be out of luck!  Praying for a healthy, full term baby, but if she does come early, please not before October 1!!!  My first baby came at 37 weeks, I will be 34/35 weeks around October 1.  Wondering if anyone is in the same boat?

I am a federal worker and feel the same way as you. I am due November 17 yet still have that in the back of my head. I told my husband that we will take a short vacation nearby after October 1st!

My husband is a Fed employee and I’m so grateful he’ll be able to be around those first few weeks. It’s baby #3 and we live 1700 miles from family and I’m a stay at home mom, so this is such a blessing especially if I end up getting a c-section (you never know).

I am no longer a federal employee but when I had my first daughter in 2017, I had to do the same thing! I am so glad that is finally happening for employees!

So, I work for the Postal Service so i am also a fed employee and I haven't heard this?!?! I had to use my sick and annual leave when I had my daughter in 2016. Any more info?
