Period Cycle Day?

What is considered cycle day 1? I am currently have very very light spotting so would today be cycle day 1 or wait until it’s a normal flow? I’m trying to accurately track. I was on birth control for 10 years so I’m used to it being tracked for me lol.

When you have a flow that requires more than a pantiliner. If it starts after 8 pm, count that as the next day being cd1. You should still chart all bleeding, but spotting doesn't start your cycle over.

I've heard that CD 1 is flow and that spotting is not CD 1.
It's still confusing though because sometimes you spot at like 9pm and flow starts while you're asleep.
If we weren't ttc, CD 1 wouldn't even really matter that much, but because we need to  not miss ovulation, CD 1 is super important to pinpoint.
