22 month old not talking..
My son is 22 months old. He will be 2 on November 6.
He says maybe 10 words and the rest just sounds babble. I had him evaluated by Early Steps at 20 months and they said he didn’t qualify for early intervention because he was only lacking in 1 of the 5 areas (number of words) and to wait until he is 2 years old and to reevaluate then. They also did an autism screening. And they said he 100% does not have autism. it was through video conference because of Covid so it may not have been as effective. Idk...
Anyways that was 2 months ago and I have been doing everything they suggested and even tips from a speech therapist I know and still nothing 😢.
Here’s the crazy thing—he understands nearly everything I say. Even multi step things like “go over the the table and get me the spoon” and “bring me the book and sit on my lap” without me even pointing. He can also identify 15 body parts yet he can’t repeat the words of the said body parts...
Any mamas in here have had similar situations? Kids understand everything you’re saying but won’t repeat or verbalize? What was the outcome and what can I do?
I honestly don’t know what else to do to help him talk more.
I also had another baby 2 months ago so it’s hard dealing with two babies who are both unable to communicate.
