At what point would you cut your child’s father off?

My daughter is 3. Her dad doesn’t prioritize her at all. He’s given me not even $200 for her ALL YEAR. Claims to be broke but also going place with his new girl and HER kids. He never asks about my daughter, checks up on her. He basically picks and chooses when he wants to come see her. He works 2 mins from where me and her live, but apparently “never has time to stop by”. As a mother, I can’t understand how a parent can be like this. My daughter is on my mind 24/7. I do anything I can for her, without hesitation. For him to go weeks without seeing her, or even sending a text to see how she’s doing is disgusting to me. And on top of that, he’s doing more for someone else’s children. My friends and family are telling me to cut him off because he does nothing for her and I’m allowing him to “walk all over me” and call all the shots. I know my daughter will always be taken care of and she doesn’t need anyone who’s halfway in her life. I just don’t want her to hate me one day. What would you do?

Just drop the rope. He will either step up or won’t. Don’t force a relationship if he isn’t interested.

I wouldn’t cut him off, but i also would put him on child support (if you havent already.) Not only will he be ordered to pay by the judge, he most likely will be given a visitation schedule and if he misses days, you make a record for as long you can to show proof to the judge and eventually his rights could be terminated. Your daughter isn’t old enough to process what’s happening and she’ll be the one thats hurt if you keep her from him. One day she’ll be old enough to realize that he’s a piece of shit and make the decision on her own to cut him off, but hopefully his rights will be terminated before then. Don’t try and force him to be apart of her life, just keep a record of it and take as much action as you can to have his rights taken. Dont waste your energy on him because he isnt worth it. One day your daughter will have a new daddy who will love her and give her the attention she deserves! Until then, keep on loving her as much as you can and doing what you’re doing, you’ll be her biggest idol and she’ll cherish everything you’re doing for her. ❤️

I would cut him off keep records of every time he was supposed to see or send child support. He is a grown man and he should be calling everyday to check on his child. It’s not your job to force something. I would slowly let him fall farther away. At a certain point your daughter won’t even remember him.

If you want him out of your lives permanently, give him the option. Tell him he can either agree to terminate his parental rights or you are
Going to court for child support. It’s up to him which he prefers. If he is really that big of an asshole hesgoing to agree to terminate his rights rather than pay.

You can’t legally “cut him off”. He still has rights to his child until a court takes them away. You not allowing him to see her, can and will bite you in the ass if he ever chose to take you to court.
