Would you be okay with people calling your baby by their middle name only?

So we told my mother in law the name we are thinking for babygirl. Ivalisse Mahala eve-a-lease, muh-hay-luh. Mahala is my middle name and my 3x great grandmothers name so I want to keep it. When we told her she was like “what?” Like 7 times no exaggeration. I get it’s a little different but like cmon. I’m Mexican & Puerto Rican and idk if it’s a Hispanic thing but his mom calls all her boys by their middle name. She said babygirls name was too complicated so she was going to just call her Mahala. I was like no if I wanted her to be called Mahala I would’ve made it her first name 😑 she can definitely say the name bc she said it on the phone. Am I being rude or too much by not letting her call babygirl by her middle name?
