My little Emi Bri had arrived in expectantly due to me developing pre-eclampsia. I experienced sudden swelling in my face, nose, legs, thighs, feet and even lower back...that's when I realized something was wrong. I also experienced anxiety that it was hard to sleep through the night accompanied with extreme heartburn. I called the doctor and she had me go in to her office to check me. Being that my pre-baby weight was 118 lbs , I was a whopping 163 lbs when I went in. 12 lbs packed on in ONE week! The nurse practitioner checked me and said "You're really sick". They then wheeled me over to triage and performed tests. My doctor came in and said I wasn't going to work anytime soon. I was then wheeled over to Labor & Delivery room. Sure enough, results came back and doctor made a desicion to perform a C-Section that same night I was extremely terrified, but thankfully the doctor and my loved ones helped me calm down. I was put on a magnesium drip to prevent any seizures. Emi Brielle was born September 15, 2015 at 12:33 am. Born at 31 weeks. She stayed 52 days in the NiCU and I stayed 11 days in hospital being monitored for high blood pressure. I was sent home on medication. It was a tough and difficult journey, but so happy to have my little girl. She is home with us now healthy and happy baby.
