Cartilage Piercing Question

Ashley

I have 5 cartilage piercings: a triple helix on one ear and then a single helix and a conch on the other. I like how flat the back of jewelry sits against my ear on the conch piercing so I went into the studio that did my piercings and asked them if they could shorten the posts on the helix piercings so they too sat flat against the back of my ear. The piercer said they looked good and they don’t recommend shortening the helix posts. I was just wondering if this is a typical amount of post to have showing on a helix. I would be particularly interested in hearing from any piercers about why that much post is recommended or why it’s not required. Thanks in advance!

Edit: they are not new, they are all fully healed and over 2 years old.
