How do I take out my belly button ring?

About 2 years ago I got my belly button pierced and I've never taken it out. I decided last night that I wanted to try to take it out and look at how the hole/scaring looks. I kept twisting the top ball but nothing happened. I could not get it off. Any tips? Am I doing it wrong? My sister suggested getting wire cutters and cutting it off if I can't get it off but this is the only ring I have for it and I don't want the hole to close up or ruin my ring.

As everyone else has suggested, or you can use pliers to get a good grip.
I also just wanted to assure you that it shouldn't close up if it has healed up fully. I took mine out at 26 weeks pregnant and put it back in after I had my baby and it was still open. 😊

Go to a piercing shop and they should take it out for free honestly

This happened to my too when I got mine, they make it so hard I guess so it won’t untwist and come undone unexpectedly? Lol just keep on twistin! Gloves helped me!

You twist the top (or sometimes the bottom) ball off. To get a better grip, I keep a rubber glove with my belly rings, cuz I can never really do it with just my fingers, and I like to change my piercing a lot
