If you are having a son, or already have one will you/ did you circumcise?

We didn’t! I grew up in Germany and it’s not offered after birth like in the USA. My husband is American and was totally against it. He believes that he has less feeling because of it. Most other countries are not doing it routinely and it actually becomes less of a practice in the US as well because it is medically totally unnecessary. A lot of the reasons why it was claimed to be medically necessary have been debunked. There is a documentary on Netflix and after watching it I’m even more convinced that we made the right decision for our family. It is up to the parents to decide, but I do suggest some research and not just the statement that the father is circumcised so the son should be as well!

Circumcising isn't an option in Ireland. At birth anyways. You can do it for cultural reasons when they are two or obviously whenever it is deemed medically necessary, but that won't usually be apparent until around preschool age.

We didn’t! Honestly I equate circumcision to the genius mutilation of young girls in africa. We are the ONLY advanced country that still perform these procedures. There is no medical reason for it to be done. My son is three and has never had any sort of infection. My husband isn’t circumcised and also has never had any issues. I don’t judge anyone who decides to do it, obviously we are all just doing what’s right for our families. I just encourage everyone to do their homework on it.

I left it up to my husband. I don't have that body part so it was hard for me to make the call. I didn't care either way. We ended up doing the procedure, if this baby is a boy we probably will again.

We did because my son had to have hernia surgery anyways when he was about 15 months, so just did that along with it. The urologist who performed his surgery said he sees a lot of teenagers come in to get the procedure done, and I personally know 1 guy who did it when he was a teen and it was a big deal for him because he was really self conscious about his uncircumcised penis. My pediatrician also said about 99% of her boy patients were circumcised. 
To me, I was more leaning towards not getting it and honestly I feel a little bad about it because the benefits really aren't much. But then again, the risks really aren't much either. I don't think most men care as they get older, at least in America, but I still feel bad about making that decision for him when he could have made the decision for himself when he was older. I hope we're having a girl this time around so we don't have to make that decision again.

We did because I left the decision up to my husband who promised his grandfather he would. His grandpa had one later in life bc he had some type of complication (dont know the details).
