Newborn lotion?

When is it okay to start using lotion on a newborn? My baby is 10 days old and has very dry skin, is it okay to put baby lotion on him? I don’t want to irritate his skin more. If so what lotion is the best for little ones skin?

You can use it now. I used Aquaphor on super dry spots and just regular lotion on the rest of his body after baths.

Just to add...it is normal for newborns to have some peeling skin, and it doesn’t mean that their skin is dry or needs lotion. It is just their bodies acclimating to not being in amniotic fluid constantly anymore. If that is all it is, lotion isnt even needed. Congrats on your new baby!

Try to find non scented, since it's a much safer option if the skin is super dry and you dont know how the baby will react otherwise if you have breastmilk it will do way better than lotion! Just pour some on your LO In the bath and it literally all comes off once they're out.

They used remedy lotion on my newborn in the nicu.

I was told it is fine.
Mine had dry skin and I was in hospital for 5 days after emergency csection. On fouth day already doc told, I can put any lotion on him, but to choose the one, that has less aromatic ingridients.
Or just nippe cream, if some place is cracked.
