Hello,
We don’t routinely check your hcg levels unless there is a problem (pain or bleeding) because a single measurement has no value clinically at all.  The normal range is really huge in early pregnancy.  
Anaemia can make you feel this way also so a full blood count would have been something I offered with lots of reassurance that things are looking positive :) 
Early pregnancy feels long and stressful for mums - it it the trimester when so much develops, grows...and it’s invisible to the world around you!   It’s emotional and scary sometimes too x.  Keep in touch with your midwife as she is there to support you and listen when you are feeling anxious x.

Most docs tend to only check hcg levels if you are in a high risk category....multiple child losses, advanced maternal age or some other condition

Here in the uk hcg levels are not routinely checked at all. They will be checked as part of your blood panel when your pregnancy is confirmed - but they don't tell you the level. This would be at around 8 weeks. If you have a problem free pregnancy they won't be checked again until you have a further blood test at around 25 weeks ish - but even then its not guaranteed that the hcg level will definitely be checked as they would rely more on ultrasounds at that point.
