Metformin: how long did it take for you to ovulate?

I started metformin today to help with pcos and ttc. I was wondering how long it took you to ovulate?

Unfortunately it never made me ovulate. But after 3 rounds of clomid, I’m finally pregnant 😊

Metformin only regulated me for 1 cycle and not even a full one because I still didn’t ovulate. It came on time but was off after that. I needed letrozole to ovulate (did 3 rounds of clomid with no results and then 2 total of letrozole)

I took metformin for 3 months and then I took to 2 months of metformin with letrozole and got pregnant 😀😀😀 I’m almost 19 weeks

I started with 500mg/day for about 2 months but it never made me ovulate. Then I went to 750mg/day and month later I finally got my period.

I was on 2000mg for over a year and it did nothing for my PCOS.

Metformin isn’t designed specifically to induce ovulation. In women with PCOS it can help by reducing gluconeogenesis, improving insulin sensitivity, and reducing ovarian androgen production which it turn can help your menstrual cycles to become more regular and your body to naturally ovulate. Fingers crossed it helps you but don’t be surprised or disheartened or think it’s not working if you have no success and are later prescribed something like clomid in addition to the metformin to stimulate ovulation.
