Sick of this already, just me?

Question

Things people have said since I've had my baby (he's only 5 days old btw) 
"We never did that in my day."
"You had an epidural at 2cm stop acting like you actually did something."
"I used bumper pads and none of my babies died"
"So when are you gonna start losing all that weight?" 
"Why are you waking him up to feed him? He's sleeping!"
"Why is he screaming like that?" (Any time I change his diaper cause he doesn't like it) 
"I never fed/burped you guys like that."
"Don't listen to everything the doctors say, they don't know what they are talking about."
I'm trying to be nice but I'm really sick of everyone judging me and how I raise my baby already. Anyone else?

Sadly it’ll never stop, there will always be some sort of judgement on your choices as a parent. Some u hear regularly:
“You’re not a real mom because you work full time”
“Your son would be fully talking now (he just turned 2) if you spent more time with him than at work”
“You need to cut your son’s hair, only girls have long hair”
“Don’t dress him in those colors, they’re for girls”
“Don’t paint his nails even if he ask because that’s for girls”
“He’ll grow up to be a sissy and get beat up regularly if you keep this up” 
“Don’t baby him when he gets hurt he needs to toughen up”
“Why is he so clingy, he’s a whiny mama boy”

Ah yes. Unfortunately, it never ends. Whoever asked you when you’re going to lose the weight five days postpartum deserves to be punched in the face, by the way. My favorite is when people like to comment on my child’s sleep. He’s a terrible sleeper, I’m the first to admit it. But somehow people manage to think he’s supposed to sleep by himself while at the same time not crying hysterically. In our house, we can’t have both. So I’m a terrible mom because I let him sleep with me but if he cries for more than two minutes, I’m also a terrible mom. For some reason, people like to talk and especially when they have no idea what the hell they’re talking about. Unless it’s something that really, really, really bothers you, get used to saying “uh huh” and then continuing on with however you do it. Congrats on the new baby!!

First off, I can’t believe someone actually commented on your weight. That’s literally NEVER ok, but to say that to a FIVE DAY POSTPARTUM mother?!?!? WHAT!?! Wow. 🤯
Second, there is a way to make it stop..depending on who it is. If it’s your husband’s side, make him do the dirty work. Tell him to step up & tell whoever on his side is being an asshole to knock it off. I had my husband do this to my MIL who had endless comments to give. He finally blew up at her about it & she hasn’t been making any asshole comments since.

My mother in law is the same🙄
I had mentioned that the nursery nurse at the hospital when I had my daughter had recommended mylicon drops and she was like no! Don’t give her that until you ask her pediatrician.. and has said other comments as well. Now i don’t mention anything to her regarding my daughter..

When I get sick of the “back in my day” comments I say something sarcastic like “well you also blew smoke in babies faces and didn’t have car seats!” That usually shuts them up.

It'll never stop no matter how old the kids is or how many kids you have. 
As far as "we did/didn't do this back in my day" makes me laugh my ass off. It's scientifically proven that "back in the day" stuff was extremely dangerous and unhealthy (part of why health issues have been sky rocking in the middle aged/older generation) they're lucky to have survived.

I didn’t even see the bit about your weight - F whoever said that. Kick them out of your house for the day.  You don’t need that kind of toxicity in your life.

It never ends. My MIL was the worst. But honestly, we’re in a pandemic so tell everyone to mind their Tits and you’ll see them at 12 weeks. We brushed people off for a long while. It was too overwhelming. Unless a parent is there to help at night, keep ya damn mouth shut. 
I have only corrected a mom if I think they are doing something dangerous. Like my SIL not buckling her child in the car seat correctly or unsafe sleep practices (not even following the 7 safe sleep habits - which I don’t even believe in myself... but some say is safe. She was reckless with her child’s sleep safety). 
People are very opinionated these days and the older generation has no filter. Just state you are doing things how you want and are happy with the result. Eventually a lot of it will stop, but not all of it. We’ve got to develop thick skin.

I know this is kind of snarky but I’m going to give you valuable information regarding how to handle behavior that your child will start when a bit older and in the toddler years.  It does work to ignore the behavior you don’t like and don’t want continued.  Eventually they stop.  
So having said that, unfortunately some people don’t properly grow up and are just rude.  So, ignore the behavior and eventually they will stop.  Sad this has to apply to adults.  But some are just over-opinionated and like to hear themselves speak.  
BTW, you are a great mom!  Enjoy your time with your new baby.
