period + birth control..

so are use birth control and I started but the next day I got my period ( my periods are irregular ) .. it’s been 16 days since i’ve been bleeding . for me this isn’t really spotting per se , it’s more light and looks like old blood . idk if this is supposed to happen , if i’m dying lol so please help me figure this out :))
