Congratulations! It's certainly easier said than done but try not to panic for the next 8 months about your levels. I've had two babies now as a T1D and can tell you first hand that your levels will go up and down, even with your absolute best control. Which can be scary! That said, unless they're high for long periods of time, or throughout the whole pregnancy, the chance of things being fine with your bub is very high. I had a few high levels in my first trimester and I can remember crying and worrying that I'd hurt my baby. I also had lots of lows (seemed to be a pregnancy thing for me, it was intense) and consumed so much sugar in my first trimester in particular that I genuinely worried about my baby's health. But I have two healthy boys now (3 years and 1 year old) so it all ended up ok. Try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible, despite the hard work it is keeping tight control, and know that with such good A1C levels already you're doing all the right things. One thing I found really helpful for pregnancy was a Bluetooth sensor that constantly monitors glucose trends so you can stay on top of it and avoid highs/lows before they properly hit. Might be something to consider if you haven't already got something similar? Wishing you all the best for your pregnancy and little one 😊
6 weeks pregnant, feeling a little anxious
Hi all, found out 2 weeks ago i am pregnant with #1 after 7 months of trying. I’m insulin dependant diabetic who also takes Metfomin. Super excited but feeling a tad anxious too about wanting everything to be ok etc. I had some brown discharge last week which was checked out and everything was ok. Last hba1c was 51 so not a bad start but have been super strict in the last two weeks since i knew i was pregnant. Is any one else feeling happy but a tad anxious and especially about trying to ensure glucose levels are perfect?! going to be a balancing act but another 8 months seems like a long time to go!!
