Breast feeding class?

Did anyone take a breast feeding class? If so what did they have you do and was it helpful?

Thank you ladies for your comments I ended up going to the class tonight with my SO and very glad I did. Very helpful and I do recommend that class for FTMs also. Just hopefully you guys get a good teacher as I did.

I went to one with DH. It was a 3 hour Wellstar class taught by one of the lactation consultants at the hospital. I think it was helpful so I have some idea what I'm getting myself into and some of the common problems people have. It's also good to know that everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for everyone.  Our teacher was hilarious and had a story for everything so maybe that's why we had a good experience.

I took a prenatal class which had a breast feeding portion. They did teach me a lot. I'll probably still meet with a lactation consultant at the hospital when I have my little one just so they can watch me and make sure I do it right.

We went and were taught different ways to hold baby (they had life sized dolls) they showed us the nose to nipple method to get a good latch, how often they feed, what the signs are for a baby starting to get hungry...it was a good class. Very informative.

I went to one yesterday, i found it helpful. I had been reading on breast feeding already but going to the class was even better. I def feel more confident

We went to breasfeeding, cpr for infants, baby care basics and the Prepared for Childbirth. Im soooo glad we took these classes cause I feel so much confident now knowing everything. My husband learned a lot too so I feel hes going to be way more helpful during labor and also with the baby.

Taking a free one at babies r us next week. They send someone from the Hospital so I'm sure it is informative!

I actually just took one last night and didn't find it that helpful to be honest. It was an hour long and she spent the first half hour telling us why "breast is best." Obviously if we came to a breastfeeding class we know it's something we'd like to do because it's very beneficial to baby. Doesn't mean it always works out. Then we went over latch and how long milk stays good for but these were things I already knew from this app and Google. I was hoping to learn more about pumping and products and stuff. She also said no pumping, nipple shields, pacifiers or bottles for the first four weeks but I have been previously told that I would require a nipple shield and pump. So I received conflicting information and will have to speak with a lactation consultant. This was just my experience however and you would probably still benefit from taking one. Hopefully it's more helpful than the one I took.

That is not what I was told after having my first. I needed a shield right from the get go and started pumping while in the hospital. I'll most likely being doing the same thing this time around. I want to give my baby breast milk as much as possible whether straight from me or from a bottle. My son had a lot of trouble latching I'm hoping this baby will be easier
