Military base daycare - anyone know anything about it/experiences?

Just curious if anyone here has any experience with military daycares and if you think they’re good?? Or things to look for? Thanks!

If it’s a relatively busy base there can be wait lists that are years long. Currently at my base it’s 2 year wait list for infant care. 1.5 years for toddler. They were supposed to expand but then Covid happened. People go on the wait list when they first get pregnant for this reason. It is rank based and it matters right now if the spouse has a job or not. If the non AD spouse works part time they qualify for part time care. If the non AD spouse works full time they qualify for full time care. If dual military they get priority over everyone. DOD civilians and reservists aren’t allowed to use on base care right now (at least here) unless at least one of them is active duty. It is much cheaper than out in town here which is why it’s usually full.

I work for the government, and we have access to the CDC on base. My husband and I were going to check in to putting our baby in day care there once he’s born, but then COVID happened and we’re still working from home until further notice. I’ve talked to some friends and they loved it. The cost depends on your pay level, and for us, baby would be less than a mile from our office. Our friends who use it, love it. They said that it makes them feel much better that they’re baby is on base (more secure), and their kids are well taken care of!
