I don't think its a matter of being "mature" as mentioned above. My husband and I have been together for 7 years and it is not our thing. The thought of a bloody mess isn't sexy or appealing to either one of us - 4 days of no sex isn't going to kill us. Does the fact that he doesn't want to dabble in a pool of blood make him immature? Not at all. We deeply love each other, are comfortable together and he's extremely mature and understanding. Its just not sexy to us. I hate when girls say "men need to understand periods are normal." Yes, they do. And just because they don't want to stick their dick in one doesn't mean they don't understand it. Just saying.

For me, it depends where I am in my cycle. In the beginning no, because the flow is heavier and I have more cramps. But for the awkwardness, it really just depends on you and your partner.

I have sex on my period all the time. It's personally not that messy at any time in my cycle. We either start in the shower or i just wash up after (which is done anyway). the only difference is that you can clearly see blood when compared to other bodily sexytimes fluid so its a bit gross at the end but nothing a towel and/or shower can't fix

For the record, sex on your period or lack there of is not a question of maturity. I'm a woman, I have had a period every month since I was 12, excepting two pregnancies, and I HATE blood. I do still have sex on my period sometimes but I totally get a guy not wanting to get someone else's blood all over him.

I just started dating this guy and we got really close really fast, and today he woke me up by eating me out and then we had sex and when he pulled out there was blood everywhere. All over him and me it was embarrassing for about two seconds until he said don't worry about it after I started apologizing. We got cleaned up, and that was it. If a guy is mature, periods won't bother him.
