Spotting

I have been spotting since the 16th, typically only happens when I use the restroom in the mornings then maybe one other time throughout the day, so I’m not bleeding constantly. its typically a dark red blood. On the 17th it was very thick but other than that it’s been fairly thin blood. I’ve been on the pill for 3 years, I have never had this experience before. Is this normal?
